This week’s Top 5 Wednesday is favorite books of the year so far. This was pretty hard. I ended up looking through my Goodreads and the ratings of books I read in the first half of the year. So here’s the list.
Hero by Perry Moore – I really loved listening to the audiobook for Hero. It’s a fantastic story with some great characters. Thom’s journey from closeted super hero in training to where he is at the end was great to be on.
More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera– I just read this book and I’m never gonna get over how great it is. I talk about it in a video here. Adam Silvera is a fantastic writer. Can’t wait to read more from him in the future.
Wicked by Clover Donovan –I don’t tell people about this book enough. Ethan Drake may be one of my favorite characters of the year. I felt like this was a awesome book about witches who really use their magic. I loved it.
Becoming Chloe by Catherine Ryan Hyde– I now have a thing for road trip books because of this story. I can’t get over how great the characters of Jordy and Chloe . This is a book i definitely see myself reading again.
Wanting By Piper Vaughn – I don’t think any M/M romance I read this year will be able to trump this story. Laurie and Jonah are so perfect. It’s a really well done story. I can’t wait for part two.

This week’s Top 5 Wednesday is books you won’t ever read. There were actually a lot of books that could end up on this list for me. I usually just go on the book description or if someone has recommended it for me to decide if I want to read something. Description has way more weight though. The books on this list have all been recommended to me at some point or the other, but I just don’t personally have any interest in reading them. More detail on why I chose some of them in the video below the list. Plus an alternate for number 5.
5. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas – I like some fairytale retellings, but have no interest in reading one for Beauty and the Beast. The book’s description really just doesn’t interest me either.
4. Fifty Shades of Gray – I really don’t have any interest in it.
3. The Shining by Stephen King – I can’t do horror.I don’t watch horror movies either. Zero chance of me reading this.
2. Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer – I finished the first book and just can’t bring myself to read the next. I didn’t like it enough.
1. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card – This has more to do with the author being a anti-gay extremist than it does his actual work. His books aren’t getting any of my money.
Here are my top 5 books that feature traveling for Top 5 Wednesday. This is my first one on my new blog. Didn’t do a video this week because of a new series I want to start on my YouTube that will be up soon hopefully. This list wasn’t hard at first, but then I started to think about types of travel and complicated things for myself. What books are on your list?
Becoming Chloe by Catherine Ryan Hyde
Jordy is on his own in New York City, and it’s working fine, until Chloe comes along. She’s 18, blond and pretty. She’s seen things no-one should ever see. She knows the world is an ugly place, and needs Jordy to prove her wrong. Together they hit the road to discover the truth – and there’s no going back from what they find out.
Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
Lot of traveling in the entirety of the Heroes of Olympus and Percy Jackson series. I picked this book because it has the most extensive use of the shadow travel ability by my favorite character Nico Di Angelo.
The Will of the Empress- Tamora Pierce
This book is great because we get the four main characters of the series reuniting to help Sandry. Sandry, Daja, Briar, and Tris have grown up and grown apart, but get the chance to find their old connection again on their journey together to meet a powerful empress.
Dorothy must Die- Danielle Paige
Amy Gumm travels to Oz by way of tornado< Then she get s to travel across an OZ that is nothing like the one that she remembers from the stories. Danielle Paige has created a really twisted world in this book and I love it.
Encounter- Perie Wolford
Ricky and Josh have to travel across the country to find out how their crop circle design was duplicated in multiple locations over night. Lots of revelations happen for the two on the trip.
