M/M Romance Shuffle #1

I came up with a new thing for my YouTube channel where I talk about M/M Romance and Erotica stories at random. Why am I doing this you might ask.I don’t see anyone talking about stories like this on booktube and it just happens to be something that I read a lot of in my spare time.So here I am telling you how I feel about some of the stories I’ve read.

A lot of the stories are things ones I found for free . Often thanks to things like the Goodreads M/M Romance Group‘s yearly M/M Romance anthology release, which I will be published in this year. I plan on continuing to talk M/M romance in sets of five per video. The next one will actually be up tomorrow and I get to talk about my favorite M/M romance in it while wearing a rainbow cape.

In this video I talk about the following stories:

Let’s Talk Poetry | Ghazals and Agha Shahid Ali

Recently posted a video on one of my favorite poetry books. I really don’t explain the form as best as I could, but I filmed the video without any planning.hopefully I’ll film more videos like it in the future.I’ll be posting a ghazal of my own at Vigilantepoetry.wordpress.com soon.Happy National Poetry month!

Where are you now? Who lies beneath your spell tonight?
Whom else from rapture’s road will you expel tonight?

Those “Fabrics of Cashmere—” “to make Me beautiful—”
“Trinket”— to gem– “Me to adorn– How– tell”— tonight?

I beg for haven: Prisons, let open your gates–
A refugee from Belief seeks a cell tonight.

God’s vintage loneliness has turned to vinegar–
All the archangels– their wings frozen– fell tonight.

Lord, cried out the idols, Don’t let us be broken
Only we can convert the infidel tonight.

Mughal ceilings, let your mirrored convexities
multiply me at once under your spell tonight.

He’s freed some fire from ice in pity for Heaven.
He’s left open– for God– the doors of Hell tonight.

In the heart’s veined temple, all statues have been smashed
No priest in saffron’s left to toll its knell tonight

God, limit these punishments, there’s still Judgment Day–
I’m a mere sinner, I’m no infidel tonight.

Executioners near the woman at the window.
Damn you, Elijah, I’ll bless Jezebel tonight.

The hunt is over, and I hear the Call to Prayer
fade into that of the wounded gazelle tonight.

My rivals for your love– you’ve invited them all?
This is mere insult, this is no farewell tonight.

And I, Shahid, only am escaped to tell thee–
God sobs in my arms. Call me Ishmael tonight.

Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Feature Traveling

Here are my top 5 books that feature traveling for Top 5 Wednesday.  This is my first one on my new blog. Didn’t do a video this week because of  a new series I want to start on my YouTube that will be up soon hopefully. This list wasn’t hard at first, but then I started to think about types of travel and complicated things for myself.  What books are on your list?

Becoming Chloe by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Jordy is on his own in New York City, and it’s working fine, until Chloe comes along. She’s 18, blond and pretty. She’s seen things no-one should ever see. She knows the world is an ugly place, and needs Jordy to prove her wrong. Together they hit the road to discover the truth – and there’s no going back from what they find out.

Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

18705209Lot of traveling in the entirety of the Heroes of Olympus and Percy Jackson series. I picked this book because it has the most extensive use of the shadow travel ability by my favorite character Nico Di Angelo.

The Will of the Empress- Tamora Pierce

This book is great because we get the four main characters of the series reuniting to help Sandry. Sandry, Daja, Briar, and Tris have grown up and grown apart, but get the chance to find their old connection again on their journey together to meet a powerful empress.

Dorothy must Die- Danielle Paige

Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die #1) Amy Gumm travels to Oz by way of tornado< Then she get s to travel across an OZ that is nothing like the one that she remembers from the stories. Danielle Paige has created a really twisted world in this book and I love it.

Encounter- Perie Wolford

Ricky and Josh have to travel across the country to find out how their crop circle design was duplicated in multiple locations over night. Lots of revelations happen for the two on the trip.

Turning 16 By Perie Wolford Review

turning 16

Rating : 3.5 stars

Turning 16

Author: Perie Wolford and Michelle Doering

Genre : M/M YA

Length: 196 pages

This is a story about a gay teenager that is inspired by the movie Sixteen Candles. I’m going to start off by saying that I loved the birthday curse element of the story. It worked really well. I would think I was cursed if I was Sam. The guy had some real bad luck on birthdays. The story is really different from Sixteen Candles, but you can definitely see the influence, I loved that about it.

The main thing I didn’t like was how oblivious Sam was. He just did not understand what was going on around him while I wasn’t surprised by any of it. I knew what everyone else felt about him and what their intentions were just from his dialogue with them and what he witnesses of them…

Genre: Sci-Fi

Other Elements: Gay/Bi/Questioning Characters, and M/M Romance

Length: 117 pages

Format: Kindle Edition

This is a story about a boy and his friends that go out making crop circles to prove they are man made. There is a lot of build up in the book that I really enjoyed. The book features some major surprise moments that really pulled me in.

There were times where I really didn’t know why Ann and Mike were on the team besides needing the extra hands really or how the If I was a part of a team like this and the team lacked the trust in each other the way that this group seemed to at times I would have been out of there. They were just rude to each other at times. Nothing would have made me stay. Josh does stay and you…

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: All Time Favorite Authors

This is my list of All Time Favorite Authors for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is created by http://www.brokeandbookish.com/ . You can watch my video at the bottom of this post or just look at the list right here on the blog.

1. David Levithan- I have loved every single thing that I’ve read by this author. He is someone that really inspired me to want to be a writer. I’m sort of obsessed with this man.

2. Shakespeare- I will one day read the entirety of my complete pelican Shakespeare. I don’t like everything Shakespeare wrote, but his plays have been some of my favorite things to study during college.

3. Brent Hartinger- Brent Hartinger is the author of the Russel Middlebrook series, which  love. He is also the creator of the Real Story Safe Sex Project. That project has really helped a lot of young gay and bisexual men.

4. Tamora Pierce- Tamora Pierce is on this list because her book series The Circle OF Magic is what got me hooked on reading back in fifth grade. I’ve been on a journey with those characters ever since.

5. Rick Riordan- I loved the Percy Jackson series and really really loved Heroes of Olympus series. I will be first in line to get a book from the new series coming out this year because I can hardly wait to read it.

6a. Joseph Glass- Joseph glass is the creator of the comic book series the Pride, which I’m only shortly into, but I still love it. Since he is a comic book writer I wasn’t sure if he should really be in this list so I’m making him a number 6 optional thing.

6b. Laura Halse Anderson- The first story I read by Laura was Twisted and I was hooked. She is one of the great YA writers for sure.

7. Robin Reardon- I first read Robin’s book The Evolution of Ethan Poe. The story really affected me. I needed a reading break after finishing to just process all the issues and how well she handled it. Robin Reardon is an excellent writer who can accomplish anything she puts her mind to.

8. Carrie Vaughn- If you haven’t started the Kitty and the Midnight Hour series then you should go check it out. It’s a badass werewolf girl with a radio show.Carrie Vaughn is great.

9. Thomas Middleton- I love this playwright. I did my senior paper on servitude in one of his plays. He’s just fantastic. Go read The Changeling.

10. Terence Blacker – The Angel Factory was my first sci-fi read. I’m working on my own sci-fi novel now. I attribute my love of sci-fi to Terrence Blacker’s excellent story.
